Work at Your-Own-Pace E-Course

She-Quest: A Heroine's Journey

Whether you are just beginning your journey or have been on your path for a while, you know that inside of you lives a Heroine---someone stronger, wiser, and timeless.

Let's bring her out to play...

A Heroine’s Journey is a powerful, ancient framework that describes a woman’s Quest for wholeness across her lifetime.

You already know how this inner-Quest feels.

It is your search for more joy and meaning

It is your desire to explore and express all parts of yourself

It is your longing to embrace sacred energies

It is your readiness to live your greater purpose

This She-Quest helps you focus your journey and

gives you the guidance and support you need...

This She-Quest is perfect for you if...

You are a Woman Who...

May have never even considered what her "femininity" means to her

Is perceived to be successful by others but sometimes still feels "not enough"

Likes self-development work, but wants to go beyond simple ideas and into real practices

Wants to learn how to set healthy, loving boundaries and break unhelpful, inherited behaviors and patterns

Is ready to feel more whole

Or you have always wondered why...

As a teenage girl you chose to drift away from your mother or other females?

As a young woman you easily climbed the “success ladder”, but then felt something was missing?

You have recently experienced a crisis not easily fixed by strategies that worked before?

You can feel as if you are twenty different women in one month?

This course was designed for you! No matter where you are your path,

we will take this Heroine's Journey together...

What we'll explore

When you join us on this She-Quest, you will personally explore the universal framework of transformation made popular by Joseph Campbell,

then “feminized” by Maureen Murdock.

This is an Online E-course, meaning the majority of your work is self-directed and self-paced, but you have an option of a FREE

75-minute personal coaching call during or after your course.

She-Quest Phase by Phase

PHASE 1: Introducing the Heroine’s Journey, Exploring the Separation from the Feminine

We begin in an online call so we can create a safe space to explore the Heroine's Journey together. After gaining a better understanding of the whole cycle of transformation, you will "cross the threshold" and begin the first phase: Separation from the Feminine.

Your She-guide will reintroduce you to many feminine archetypes you embody, explore how our relationships with our mothers influence our Journey and we'll deconstruct how and why we separate from the Great Feminine.

PHASE 2: Understanding your Identification

with the Masculine

Working independently with your She-Guide you will use Creative Depth Play to explore your Identification with the Masculine both within yourself and in “Father Culture”. Most women actually benefit from this phase of their life and describe it as one of achievements, gathering allies, and climbing the ladder of success.

You will explore the masculine archetypes you embody, learn more about how our relationship with our father influences our relationship with the Patriarchy, and why "Father Culture" actually represents the shadow side of the Great Masculine.

PHASE 3: Surviving Roads of Trials

and Enjoying Success

Revisiting your Road of Trials helps you describe and untangle real and emotional landscapes, discover types of characters on your journey (and determine things like if your boss is a villain or a threshold guardian), meet your ogres and demons, remember your past achievements, and celebrate your transcendent successes.

We will revisit healthy pride by acknowledging your internal and external successes, explore self-care practices (that are more than a bubble bath!), and dive into the science of gratitude and how it can significantly improve happiness for up to 9 months! Your She-Guide will provide even more resources on emotional resilience, personal mythology and embracing pride and grief

PHASE 4: Awakening to What’s Missing and Descending to the Goddess

Even after you enjoyed success, you may begin to Awaken to What's Missing and start to feel that there are aspects of you that have been forgotten, hidden, or are missing. During your exploration of these aspects, you will Descend to the Goddess of the Great Feminine and your Goddess within. For some women this experience may feel dark, deep,or depressing

Using modern and ancient theory, you will learn about why a woman's energy shifts from Yang to Yin and how this can help you establish self-compassionate, healthy boundaries in your personal and professional life. After distinguishing between spiritual ascent and soul-based descent you will gain tools and guidance for surrendering to your soul in the dark. Your She-Guide's resources will provide more on self-compassion, "Soul-Crafting" techniques, creating networks of support, and Shadow-work processes

PHASE 5: Reconnecting with the Feminine,

Healing the Mother Wound

By meeting the Dark Mother in the underworld, you will gain a yearning to Reconnect with the Feminine  and Heal your Mother Wound. This is a powerful, vital phase of a Heroine’s Journey and can single-handedly change the trajectory of a woman’s life and relationship with her sisters, daughters, and friends (and all men in her life!).

By re-examining positive Feminine Archetypes you will learn how to embrace and embody more authentic versions of yourself. You will learn how breaking the cycle of the Mother Wound is so helpful personally and culturally, and how to do it non-judgmental, compassionate, loving ways. Additional resources will be provided to further explore the Mother-Daughter relationships from a personal and global perspective.

PHASE 6: Integrating Masculine

and Feminine Energies

After healing the Feminine, you will want to Heal the Wounded Masculine and learn how to Integrate Masculine and Feminine Energies into your daily life. Living in more balanced, reflective ways helps you to embrace your own wholeness.

Revisiting positive Masculine Archetypes will help you lean into your inner Sacred Marriage and welcome your Divine Child--a new form of consciousness. You will gain more techniques for continued self-discovery like Jungian based processes, narrative therapy, self-authorship methods.

More than anything, you will walk away feeling empowered and ready to embody your wisdom!

Q: So, what exactly is a ‘She-Quest’ or ‘Heroine’s Journey’?

A: The term Heroine’s Journey comes primarily from the work of Joseph Campbell and Maureen Murdock. Campbell coined the term “Hero’s Journey” in his book “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” to describe the overwhelming similarities in myths from all cultures and all eras. Simply put, nearly all myths describe the same concept: how humans experience personal transformation and tend to follow somewhat predictable phases to reach authentic wholeness.

Later, Maureen Murdock used Campbell’s work with the Hero’s Journey and focused on how women specifically explore a “The Heroine’s Journey: A Women's Quest for Wholeness” throughout their lifetime. She too found very prominent and predictable phases in both ancient myths and modern women’s experiences.

I coined the phrase “She-Quest” because I believe that during our life journeys we have smaller Quests that both focus on one specific aspect of growth, and also mimic the larger journey in general… (hence why my business is called “GrowthQuests” :) ) A She-Quest focuses solely on how you as a woman are interacting with all aspects of yourself as you quest toward wholeness.

Q: Does every woman experience a Heroine’s Journey?

A: Yes, every woman will experience a unique journey and many aspects of hers will resemble the universal journey. I like to say that "No myths are true, but all myths are Truth…" meaning that just like the archetypal characters in our favorite ancient and modern stories, we too will go through joy, sorrow, and transformation.

You may not feel like you have something in common with the goddess Aphrodite, but maybe you do resonate with the pop icon Marilyn Monroe. We both learn from and connect with these universal aspects of womanhood through comparing our stories.

Q: What would be an example of some universal aspects of womanhood?

A: There are more than I can say, but in general many women experience something like a rotating yin yang. If you imagine it spinning from dark to light the pattern tends to be:

Being Born Feminine> Losing touch with the Feminine and Gravitating to the Masculine> Being Successful then Unhappy with Masculine> Reconnecting with the Feminine> Integrating both Feminine and Masculine Energies. Yet, that pattern obviously has plenty of hiccups and challenges along the way!

Q: What are some challenges that women face in their Heroine’s Journey?

A: At every phase there are challenges, which is why we call ourselves “Heroines” when we overcome them! In the first part of our journey, we face a separation from the “Mother”—either personally or symbolically. This can manifest as difficulties with other women or a sense of confusion with our own feminine traits. Later we face challenges in the world of the “Father”—either difficulty being successful, or becoming quite successful, but feeling as if something is missing.

Later, we tend to have a crisis or dilemma that makes us question everything and the tools we learned in the world of the Father won’t fix it. Thus, we must descend to the Dark Mother Goddess and re-learn how to connect with the Sacred and Personal Feminine. All of these challenges have the potential to stop us in our tracks if we are not prepared with tools, resources, and community, which is why this She-Quest is so powerful.

Q: Who would benefit from this “She-Quest”?

A: Obviously I think every woman! When I designed it, I kept in mind my friends who love self-development work, but hate crystals and angels! Meaning, I made the content quite rigorous, but still holistic. You will gain access to resources from lots of fields, so you can follow your curiosity and go down your own rabbit holes!

Specifically I think the women who will benefit the most are those who may be at one of the challenge moments described above. If you can feel a shift in your feminine and masculine energies, if you want to understand a current ‘stuck’ situation, if you are afraid to surrender to a larger force, or if you are having trouble integrating all your diverse parts of self…this course is for you!

Q: What kind of activities will participants experience in the course?

A: You will experience the course personally, but something unique to this course is the Growth-Play which encourages you to process things physically in your own intimate space. This ranges from art-making (crayons, watercolor, collage--whatever you can scrounge up), to writing, dance, meditation, or touch. Invest in some cheap, but effective art supplies and the experience will open up new possibilities!

When you work independently, you will use your custom-made She-Guide that offers specific tools, resources, and activities for each week of the She-Quest. Many of the activities will be paired with links for further reading or viewing if you choose to go even deeper. Many women describe feeling drawn to a specific topic and going deep with one, but saving the rest for later--others dive in to all topics--it is your choice.

Although it is self-paced, you can schedule a time to speak privately with me for a personal coaching session, which will help you integrate your experiences into your daily life.

Q: If anyone has additional questions or concerns, how do they contact you?

A: Contact Dr. Katie at UNFOLD@GrowthQuests.com
