Embodiment 101
Girl: You are a brilliant woman.

You've used that amazing mind to get far in life -- and you know how freaking smart you are.
​
Yet, no matter how successful and bad-ass you've been, when you live too much in your head, you may also start to feel burnt out. Stuck. Dysregulated, or overwhelmed.
​​
But because you are so smart, you've probably thought you could just "think your way out of it". But the real magic happens when you can return to your body.
​​​
Let's get out of your head and learn (because you love learning, you nerdy girl) how your body has everything you need to get unstuck, heal and kick-ass.
Don't let your distaste for the gym deter you from the greatest joy ever:
Moving your Body
I don't have a six-pack.

I would rather lift a book than a weight.

The gym? Not my scene.
​​
But, I love to move my body, and I want you to love yours too.
​​
Maybe you've never joined an exercise class, always fear you are doing something "wrong", or are intimidated by the fitness industry in general: THIS is the workshop for you!

There is more to physical health than dragging yourself to the gym or an exercise class: and it starts with having an intimate, loving connection to your body.
​​
And chances are, if you don't have that connection, you won't stick with that gym membership anyway.
​​
Think of "Embodiment 101" as the kindergarten class you always needed: to learn how to FEEL your body's cues, LISTEN to your intuitive somatic-awareness, ENJOY the unique abilities your body has and TRUST yourself to use them.

Use your innate strengths!

You are a nerdy-girl for a reason: you are curious! You like to understand how things work and the connection to bigger picture.
​​
Your curiosity will always outweigh "doing it right" because to feel safe in our body, we want to feel curious about the way it wants to move, and then adjust it according to our intuition. We are learning to grow confidence in our bodily awareness in a safe, fun environment.
​​
And because we love to learn (!): we will always throw in a few "nerdy" reasons why each activity is helping us.

What we do...
(and the "nerdy" reasons why)
We rock out to a killer-playlist that accompanies embodied practices that are specifically curated for nerdy reasons. Such as:
​
Practice: Somatic Awareness: Understanding where your emotions "live" in your body.
​​
"Talk-nerdy-to-me" why: Emotions get "stuck" in certain parts of your body, so many of your physical ailments are actually more emotional. We learn locations and how to release them on our own.
​​
Practice: Non-Linear movement: Using curiosity, we feel into the areas of our body that need attention, discern what they need, and give it!
​​
"Talk-nerdy-to-me" why: Improving your interoception allows you to trust your body's cues (that you may have been ignoring) and trust yourself to give your own "medicine" through movement
​​
Practice: Dance: Moving your body to a beat and following a natural rhythm inside of you
​​
"Talk-nerdy-to-me" why: Dance calms the vagal nerves, drops cortisol (stress hormones), and increases oxytocin and serotonin (feel good hormones) reconnecting you to pleasure neural pathways
​​
Practice: Linear Movement: Using 2D and 3D exercises to increase coordination and strength
​​
"Talk-nerdy-to-me" why: Proprioception and bilateral movement of the limbs relaxes the vagal nerves, allowing for a more regulated nervous system-- increasing resilience for further activities
